Santa is Coming
to Rowayton
Sunday, December 12 1:00-2:45pm

Santa will be making his annual visit to Rowayton aboard his big red Fire Engine sleigh on Sunday, December 12. He will arrive at the Rowayton train station at 1:00pm and then make his rounds through Rowayton, stopping at the corner of Crest and Ridgewood, Rowayton Library, the Bell Island Gate House, South Beach, the Beach Association Boat House and Brendan’s 101. Children can also visit him at the Fire House on Rowayton Avenue from 2:15-2:45pm.

Residents are also encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift card to the Fire House that day from 1:00-3:00pm, as the Rowayton volunteer firefighters will be collecting toys for the Carver Center’s holiday party. For more information on the toy collection, call 853-0842.

Hope Lights Lives Luminaries Project
Sunday, December 12th at 5:00pm (Rain date Sunday, December 19th)

All of Rowayton will glow with candlelight on December 12th as residents light luminaries along their property to demonstrate support for those who are dealing with a difficult illness or the loss of a loved one. This will be the 13th year that our community has participated in this powerful event created by the Center For Hope. This is one of the largest fundraisers benefiting the Center for Hope and the Den for Grieving Kids. Order forms for Luminary kits will be available in early November. If you can help, or would like more information, please contact Susan Dunlap at 866-8330.

Follow the Star... to the RCA Nativity Pageant
Saturday, December 18th at 6:00pm (Rain date Sunday, December 19th)

The 47th annual Nativity Pageant is a wonderful way to rediscover the joy of Christmas with your neighbors and friends. This outdoor production of “Come to the Light” was co-founded in 1963 by Jane (Putsie) Ritchey and the late Louise McMahon and Howard Lenters in the weeks following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Featuring area children, local clergy, residents and live animals, the pageant is an endearing re-enactment of the Christmas story.

Volunteers Needed
If you have angels (girls, grades 3-5), shepherds (boys, grades 3-5), wise men (boys, grades 6-8) or townspeople (all ages) who would like to participate, call Putsie Ritchey at 621-0980.
Help is also needed for the set-up and breakdown of the Nativity Pageant. Set-up starts at 8:00am on Saturday, December 18th. Bring your children and help put up trees, bang nails and bond with fellow Rowaytonites. Doughnuts and coffee provided! For more information, call Greg Saum at 354-4068.
